Invitation to WriteOut

Autumn is Beautiful

It’s a beautiful time of year to get outside and walk through places filled with nature, even if it’s just a city street lined with trees or your own backyard. Do you love to walk through the leaves and breathe in the earthy fragrance of nature? Do the autumn leaves ease your soul? Or perhaps new green is popping up in your spring? How about joining WriteOut?

WriteOut

It’s also time for the October WRITEOUT adventure, October 13 through the 27th, partnership of the National Writing Project and the National Park Service — a chance to enjoy the outdoors with poetry, prose, and parks for Write Out 2024.

Organized as a public invitation to get out and create, supported by a series of free online activities, Write Out invites educators, students, and families to explore national parks and other public spaces. The goal is to connect and learn through place-based writing and sharing.  Check out this infographic for the flow of the this week and the Choice Board to get you started for WriteOut’s Poetry for the Planet.

And, for my many poetic friends….I’ve a special invitation…

An Invitation

This is my seventh year with WriteOut with all my WriteOut posts here, and over those years I’ve found many friends who love the outdoors and some even love to write poetry. I’d like to invite you to join me in enjoying and sharing the beauty of our planet, be it in photos, illustrations, or poetry.

I’ve set up a Padlet, a sort of online bulletin board to share your discoveries so we can enjoy the photos, illustrations, or poetry in one place over the next several days through October 27th. Would you like to join in?

Just click the plus sign at the bottom of the page to add your ideas. Here’s a little video [How To Add to Padlet] of how to do get started and add an image- you need to click the + sign in the pop up. You can also paste the text in from text you’ve written already. I’ve also pinned the video how-to to the Padlet page.

Here’s what the description says:

Welcome: WriteOut Poetry for Coulee Country

From October 13 – October 27, 2024, please join in WriteOut by National Writing Project. Take a walk in a park or other public place, observe, and write a poem to share here. You might start with a picture and then caption with a poem. Enjoy the outdoors of north central Washington State or your own area. Share its beauty in photos, illustrations, and poetry.

Just click the “+” to choose text, image, etc. Thank you, and remember this is a family friendly project, so be kind and helpful in your poetry and comments. This is a public space.
